Rainbow Smoothie

This recipe has sherbet in it so you can kind of 'trick' your kids into thinking that they are getting ice cream. They don't have to know it's a healthier option. 

    10 oz. apple-cranberry juice
    4 oz. strawberries
    2 oz. pineapple chunks
    2 scoops rainbow sherbet
    1/2 banana
    4 oz. ice

Place ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender and purée until smooth.

Daiquiri Twist Smoothie

There are lots of people that enjoy the taste of a daiquiri but aren't fond of the alcohol in them. Here is a great recipe for that daiquiri taste without all the alcohol. You will also find that this recipe has a little extra something - a scoop of ice cream. 

    8 oz. apple-cranberry juice
    4 oz. orange juice
    4 oz. frozen blackberries
    4 oz. kiwis
    4 oz. ice cubes
    1/2 teaspoon sugar
    1 scoop vanilla ice cream

Place ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender and purée until smooth.

Raspberry - Orange Smoothie

I just purchased the ingredients I needed for this smoothie but haven't had a chance to try it yet. It sounds like it will be yummy and have a nice sweet fruity taste to it.    

    16 oz. milk
    16 oz. plain yogurt
    16 oz. fresh raspberries
    8 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
    8 oz. ice cubes
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all ingredients and blend until smooth.

Wacky Watermelon Smoothie

16 oz. seeded watermelon chunks
8 oz. cracked ice
4 oz. plain yogurt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Combine all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender container, blend until smooth.

Ultimate Smoothie

    8 oz. fresh-squeezed orange juice
    2 mangos
    8 oz. fresh or frozen blueberries
    1 frozen banana
    2 tablespoon flax seeds
    1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Put all the ingredients in the Vita-Mix blender in the order listed and mix on high until fully blended.

Zippy Pineapple - Carrot Smoothie

    4 oz. pineapple chunks
    8 oz. soy milk, any flavor
    1 carrot
    3 oz. pineapple juice
    1" piece ginger, peeled
    Honey - to taste

Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender container and blend until everything is smooth. Add ice if you like it frosty. The ginger adds the "zip".

Banana Boost

If you are looking to get more fiber into your child's diet this is a great way to do it.  

    1 banana
    1/4 shredded wheat cereal (or other high fiber cereal)
    1/4 cup milk

 Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend.

Jello Smoothie

    4 oz. prepared Jello - any flavor
    4 oz. milk
    4 oz. sherbet - flavor should match the Jello flavor

Mix in a Vita-Mix blender.

Top with whipped cream and colored sugar.
