Green Tea Cooler

This recipe doesn’t take on the ’smoothie’ consistency but it’s still a great recipe that I wanted to share.

Ingredients:

16 ounces fresh strawberries
2 ounces honey
6 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate
16 ounces brewed green tea, cooled

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender place the strawberries and honey.

Blend until smooth.

Now add the orange juice concentrate.

Blend until mixed.

Add the cooled tea and mix well.

Serve over ice in a tall glass.

Fruit Medley

Ingredients:

3 ounces orange juice
14 ounces pineapple chunks
10-14 strawberries
1 banana
10-12 seedless grapes
8 ounces ice cubes

Directions:

Place orange juice, pineapple chunks, strawberries, banana, seedless grapes and ice cubes in a Vita-Mix blender. (Place them into blender in the order shown)

Place lid on blender.

Blend ingredients until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Pour into cup(s) and garnish with a strawberry.

Note: If you want you can switch things up a bit and add some melon or whatever else you think might mix well with these ingredients.

The Anything Smoothie

I like this smoothie because even though it gives you a list of ingredients to use you still get to create your own by choosing whatever you like from the ‘anything’ list. It’s fresh and yummy tasting.

Ingredients:

4 ounces yogurt (flavored or plain)
4 ounces fruit juice (pineapple-orange or orange)
3-6 ice cubes
1-2 tablespoons sugar (to taste or optional)
1-2 teaspoons vanilla (optional)

Chose 2 or 3 from the anything list

3 strawberries
1/2 peach or nectarine
1/2 banana, peeled
2 ounces pineapple
2 ounces blueberries
2 apricots

Directions:

Place ingredients (don’t forget the 2 or 3 from the anything list).

Place lid on blender.

Blend on high until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Note: For this smoothie it is best to use frozen fruits but if you can’t find it in the frozen section fresh or canned fruit will work too. If you have ripe bananas, sprinkle with some lemon juice or lemonade (it’s used as a preservative) and freeze until ready for use.

You Won’t Know You are Eating Tofu Smoothie

What I love about this smoothie is that it’s a perfect way to eat tofu without even ‘knowing’ you are eating it. A lot of people have a thing about eating tofu so why not try it in a smoothie first?

Ingredients:

10.75 ounces dessert tofu
3 frozen strawberries
5 frozen peaches
8 ounces strawberry yogurt
8 ounces orange juice

Directions:

Place orange juice, yougurt, peaches, strawberries and tofu in a Vita-Mix blender.

Cover and blend until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Note: You can try different fruits in this recipe or even different juices until you find exactly what you like.

The Southwest Smoothie

This recipe gets it name because of the fruits you have the option of using – mango, papaya or guav.

4 ounces banana, sliced
4 ounces mango, papayy or guav
16 ounces milk
1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

Place banana, other fruit chosen to use, milk and honey into a Vita-Mix blender.

Cover blender.

On high speed blend until smooth.

Note: If using a mango you will need to strain this.

Banana – Raspberry Smoothie

This is a great recipe. I’m not a huge fan of raspberries so I wasn’t sure whether I would end up liking it or not. But it was very yummy.

Ingredients:

2 bananas, peeled
12 ounces pineapple juice
8 ounces low-fat vanilla yogurt
8 ounces raspberries

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a Vita-mix blender.

Place lid on top.

Blend until desired consistency is reached.

Berry Cocoa Smoothie

6 oz. apple juice
8 oz. vanilla yogurt
16 oz. mixed frozen berries
2 to 3 tbsp sweetened powdered cocoa

Directions:

Pour apple juice and yogurt into Vita-Mix blender.

Add the frozen berries and cocoa.

Put the lid on and blend until smooth.

Almond Berry Blast

This is a great recipe for a nice hot summer day. Frozen berries are always a treat in the summer.

8 oz. nonfat soy milk
3/4 tsp almond extract
4 oz. silken tofu
2 tbsp granulated sugar

Place all ingredients into a Vita-Mix blender.

Place lid on blender.

Blend until desired consistency is reached.

Apple – Carrot Quencher

Ingredients:

16 oz. carrot juice
4 oz. apple juice
6 oz. non-fat vanilla or plain yogurt, frozen
1 banana

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend until desired consistency is reached.

Basic Fruit Smoothie – Soy Based

Ingredients:

1 cup soymilk (plain or vanilla)
1/2 medium banana (may be frozen)
2 tablespoons frozen fruit juice concentrate (undiluted)
1/4 cup frozen fruit (optional)

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender add the soymilk, banana, fruit juice concentrate and frozen juice.
Place lid on blender and blend until desired consistency is reached.

Note: You can change this recipe up a little just by using a pineapple-orange-banana juice concentrate. That will give you the taste of a Pineapple-Orange Smoothie.
