Vita-Mix Announces “Pitch Me!” Video Contest to Find the Next TV Infomercial Star

OLMSTED FALLS, OH – November 4, 2009 – Credited with creating the very first infomercial in the U.S., Vita-Mix, the world leader in high-performance blending equipment, today announces “Pitch Me!” -a national video competition to discover the next great Vita-Mix TV demonstration star. The winner, voted on by the public and chosen by Vita-Mix, receives a Grand Prize of $10,000 and may star in upcoming Vita-Mix television commercials and web-based videos.

Participants must showcase their skills with a Vita-Mix blender and are
judged on their video’s creativity, popularity and overall quality. As the
competition progresses, Vita-Mix will air highly-rated submissions on
national commercials, to drum up support for the leading videos and further publicize the contest. Vita-Mix is offering over $20,000 in total prizes including the single Grand Prize of $10,000 cash.

In 1949, Vita-Mix created the world’s first television infomercial during
which Vita-Mix Founder William G. “Papa” Barnard demonstrated everything the Vita-Mix machine could do and began America’s love affair with the infomercial. A commitment to personal demonstration continues to guide Vita-Mix’s marketing efforts to the present day; Vita-Mix demonstrates its professional-quality machines in over 2,000 shows every year in the U.S. alone.

The newest Vita-Mix machines certainly lend themselves to demonstration since they do the work of 10 kitchen appliances and perform over 50 different processes. These include five that no other single kitchen appliance can execute as flawlessly: making ice cream, grinding grains to make flour, kneading dough, making whole food juice, even making piping hot soups heated by nothing more than the blades spinning at 240 MPH.

Strawberry-Papaya Cilantro Smoothie

When I found this recipe it made me crinkle my nose. It doesn’t sound very appetizing but who knows it might be really good, I just haven’t been ‘brave’ enough to give it a try. Please leave a comment if you try it. I’m curious as to what others have to say about the flavor of it.

Ingredients:

1 cup cilantro
8 large strawberries
1 cup almond milk
4 dates
1 cup papaya
1 cup coconut water

Directions:

Place all ingredients into Vita-Mix blender and blend on high until smooth.

Berry Blast Smoothie

This recipe is full of ‘berry’ ingredients – raspberries, blackberries and strawberries – so not only will it be naturally sweet (berries have a natural sweetness to them) but you’ll also get great health benefits as well.

All three of the berries, in this recipe, each contain vitamin C which is an important vitamin we need to help keep our immune system built up so it works properly to fight off sickness and disease. Aside from the vitamin C you will also find some minerals that are important for your body such as potassium, magnesium and folate in these berries.

And just one more benefit or using these berries? They are all super low in calories and have very few, if any at all, grams of fat!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup blackberries
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1/4 cup milk (low fat or fat free)
1 cup berry flavored yogurt
2 cups ice

Directions:

Place all ingredients in Vita-Mix blender.

Make sure lid is on and secured tightly.

Mix on high until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Tofu and Soymilk Smoothie

Here is a healthy recipe to get you going in the morning.

12 packets Splenda
2 cups strawberries

Dates and Strawberries Smoothie

The almonds and dates in this recipe both add a little twist to this recipe. The dates will add a hint of sweetness where the almonds will add a unique flavor. If you don’t like dates don’t worry there aren’t enough of them in here to be all that noticeable. They are mainly used to add sweetness.

Ingredients:

3 dates
1 cup water
1/2 cup strawberries
1/4 cup almonds

Directions:

Important: Make sure to soak the dates and the almonds (separately) for several hours and then rinse.

Place dates, water, strawberries and almonds into a Vita-Mix blender and blend on high until smooth.
