Vanilla Macadamia Shake

If you like macadamia nuts you’ll like this recipe. It’s more like a shake because the consistency is a bit thicker than a regular smoothie.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup macadamia nuts
8 dates
1/4 teaspoon stevia
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup water
12 ice cubes

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender blend the nuts, dates and water until smooth.

Now add the rest of the ingredients.

Blend on high until smooth.

Peanut Butter Apple Smoothie

If you want you can add some chocolate cocoa to this recipe and make it a chocolate peanut butter apple smoothie.

Ingredients:

1 apple (core removed), coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 tablespoons agave nectar
1/3 cup water
10 ice cubes
1 tablespoon cocoa (optional)

Directions:

In this order – water, apple, peanut butter, cocoa (optional), vanilla, sugar, agave nectar – add to a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high for one minute.

Now add ice.

Blend on high until desired consistency is reached.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

Have a craving for chocolate? This recipe is sure to cure that. It’s just the right combination of chocolate and peanut butter.

Ingredients:

4 dates
1 1/2 bananas (frozen works best)
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon cocoa
1/2 teaspoon sugar
3/4 water
10 ice cubes

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender add the water, dates, peanut butter, sugar and cocoa (make sure you do it in that order).

Blend for 1-2 minutes.

Add the ice cubes and bananas.

Blend on high until smooth.

Blackberry Apple Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups frozen blackberries
1/2 cup apple cider
1 apple, such as gala or Fuji, peeled and cut into 1-in. pieces
2/3 cup nonfat lemon yogurt (2, 6-oz. containers)

Directions:

In a blender, puree the blackberries cider, apple and yogurt until smooth

The Gross Green Smoothie

With a title like that how can you not try this recipe? I’ll admit – I haven’t tried it. Please leave a comment if you try this, I would like to know what your thoughts are (does it taste good or is it…well gross?).

Ingredients:

baby spinach (handful)
1/3 cup tofu
1 cup milk
1/2 cup mixed berries
1/2 banana
honey (little bit)

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high for a couple minutes or until smooth.

Serve immediately.

Almond Cherry Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 banana
1 cup cherries (frozen work best)
1 tablespoon coconut
2 1/2 tablespoons almonds (slivered)
1 cup grape juice
7 ice cubes

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender place all ingredients.

Blend on high until smooth.

Super Raspberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 to 1 1/2 cups raspberries (frozen work best)
1 scoop any flavor protein powder
broccoli – as much or as little as you wish
2 tablespoons orange juice
3/4 cup soy milk

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high until smooth.

Serve immediately.

Banana and Spinach Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup spinach
1/2 of an avocado
1 cup berries – any flavor
1 banana
1 scoop protein powder
1 teaspoon maca powder
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
1 cup water
Ice – optional

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a Vita-Mix blender and blend on high until desired consistency is reached.

Popeye Smoothie

Popeye always ate spinach to make himself super strong but don’t tell your kids this smoothie recipe has Popeye’s favorite thing in it – spinach – because they’ll probably turn their nose up at the thought of it. Instead, they’ll never even know as long as you blend this recipe well so the spinach leaves don’t show!

Ingredients:

3 bananas (frozen)
2 handfuls of strawberries (or any flavor berry)
4 cups milk
4 handfuls spinach
1/8 cup honey

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender add all the ingredients.

Blend on high for one minute or until all those spinach leaves have been blended!

Sweet Tart Smoothie

Don’t let the name fool you. It’s not a bunch of sweet tarts this recipe calls for. It gets its name from the sweet and tart taste all the ingredients mixed together creates.

Ingredients:

1 scoop vanilla soy protein powder
1 banana
1 cucumber
broccoli (a generous amount)
1/2 of a large avocado
1 lime (you’ll squeeze it to get the juice)
1/2 cup orange juice

Directions:

Place all ingredients (except the lime) in a Vita-Mix blender.

Once all ingredients are in blender cut the lime in half and squeeze each half until there is no juice left (squeeze juice into the blender).

On high, blend until smooth.

Serve immediately.
