Blueberry Kale Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 handful blueberries
1 banana
2 leafs of kale
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1 cup almond breeze
Directions:
In a Vita-Mix blender, place all ingredients.
Blend on high until smooth.

1 cup frozen, pitted cherries
1 banana, cut in chunks
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 cup low-fat Greek-style yogurt
6 ice cubes
3 drops almond extract
Directions:
Place the cherries, banana, lemon juice, yogurt, ice cubes, and almond extract into a blender. Cover, and puree until smooth. Pour into glasses to serve.

2 cups chopped kale
1 banana
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1/2 cup soy milk
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender.
Blend on high until smooth.

Directions:
In a Vita-Mix blender, add all ingredients and blend on high until desired consistency is reached.
Note: You can use pomegranate’s instead of the juice. If you do use the juice, keep in mind that it will have more calories than the actual fruit.

Yesterday, I shared a Cookies and Cream smoothie recipe with you. It was full of fat and lots of calories (647 to be exact!). So today here’s a recipe that is just as good but on the healthier side.
Ingredients:
1 cup nonfat milk
1 cup fat-free frozen chocolate yogurt or 1 cup low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt
2 Oreo cookies (chocolate sandwich cookies, you could even use reduced-fat Oreos)
Directions:
1. Combine milk and frozen yogurt in blender until smooth.
2. Crumble in Oreos and blend.

This smoothie may not be the healthiest or offer much when it comes to nutrition, but it sure is delicious. Enjoy this recipe once in awhile as a treat.

3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/3 cup crushed Oreo cookies
4 -6 ounces milk

1. Combine ice cream, cookies and milk in a Vita-Mix blender.
2. Blend on medium speed for about 2 minutes or until well combined.

a few spinach leaves
1 cucumber, peeled, seeded and chopped

You might want to play around with this recipe. Add some other ingredients like ginger or cilantro or some seasoning. It’s on the bland side with just these three ingredients.

In a Vita-Mix blender add all the ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
Note: If the smoothie is too thick you can add some sort of liquid – a flavored juice or some water to think it out a litte.
This recipe calls for frozen mixed berries. I like using fresh berries instead. The great thing about this (and all smoothies) recipe is that you can alter it however you wish.
