Banana Watermelon Smoothie

Here’s another recipe that calls for ice-cream, a great summertime treat!

This recipe makes 2 servings.

Ingredients:

1 slice watermelon
1 apple (cored)
1 banana
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
5-10 cubes of ice

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add the apple and blend for 10 seconds.

Add the banana and blend for 10 seconds.

Add the watermelon and blend for 10 seconds.

Poor this (apple, banana and watermelon) into a cup or bowl.

Put ice cubes in blender and blend for 20 seconds.

Add the mix (apple, banana & watermelon) back into the blender and blend on high for 25 seconds.

Add the ice cream and blend for 20 seconds or until desired consistency is reached.

Serve immediately.

Note: You can garnish with a few pieces of fruit by putting small pieces of watermelon and apple on a tooth pick.

Banana and Melon Smoothie

Here’s a great way to let your kids enjoy ice cream while keeping things ‘healthy’.

Ingredients:

2 slices melon (any kind – watermelon, honeydew, etc)
1 banana chopped into 4
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
splash of cranberry juice

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add the melon and banana.

Blend for 20 seconds.

Add a splash of cranberry juice and the ice cream.

Blend for 30 seconds or until smooth.

Melon and Passion Fruit Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 small passion fruits
5 strawberries
1/2 watermelon
1/2 honeydew
5-10 ice cubes

Directions:

Cut the watermelon and honeydew in to small pieces and add to a Vita-Mix blender.

Cut the passion fruit in half, scrape into blender.

Cut the strawberries in half and add to blender.

On high, blend for 20 seconds.

Add ice and blend for another 20 seconds.

Note: You can add more strawberries to sweeten it up a little (or sugar).

Watermelon Wave Smoothie

Here’s a great smoothie recipe to help cool you off in the summer heat.

Ingredients:

1 cup raspberries
2 cups watermelon (cut into chunks)
2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add the raspberries and watermelon.

Blend on high for 30 seconds.

Add the ice cream.

Blend on high until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Serve immediately.

Carrot Pineapple Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 large carrot
8 ounces milk
4 ounces pineapple chunks
3 ounces pineapple juice
1 piece ginger
2 tablespoons honey (or to taste)
ice cubes (optional)

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.

Pineapple Crush Smoothie

The riper the pineapple and banana, the sweeter your outcome. This smoothie has it all — fresh, tropical, and an excellent source of vitamin C.

This recipe makes 2 servings.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1/2 frozen very ripe medium banana

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together.

Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Smoothie Recipe

Just because yesterday (July 17th) was National Ice Cream day doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ice cream today too, right? So, here’s another smoothie that calls for ice cream!

Ingredients:

6 large strawberries
1 banana
1 cup strawberry ice cream
1 slice pound cake
1 cup milk

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, blend the banana and pound cake with the milk until smooth.

Now add the strawberries and ice cream and blend until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Serve immediately.

National Ice Cream Day

Did you know there was even such a thing as National Ice Cream Day? There is! And it’s today – July 17th. So, in honor of it here’s a recipe that calls for ice cream. Of course it might be more fun to skip the smoothie and head out to your local ice cream parlor ;-)

Fruity Ice Cream Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 large banana
1/2 cup rasberries
1/2 cup blueberries
6 large strawberries
1 peach sliced and unseeded
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all the fruits, milk and ice cream and blend on high until smooth.

Serve immediately.

Note: You can substitute the vanilla ice cream for strawberry if you wish.

Berry Tofu Smoothie

Don’t like tofu? Don’t worry – this recipe is a little on the sweet and tangy side. With all the berries and orange juice, they ‘mask’ the tofu so you won’t even know it’s there.

Ingredients:

1 cup soft Tofu
1/2 a banana
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1 cup orange juice

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, blend all the fruits with the tofu, yogurt, and orange juice until smooth.

Soy Tofu Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 banana
1/2 cup strawberries
1 cup Tofu
1/2 cup soy yogurt
1/2 cup soy milk

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, mix the soy milk, tofu, soy yogurt, banana and half the strawberries until smooth.

Now add the remaining strawberries and blend on high until desired consistency is reached.
