Watermelon Wave Smoothie

Here’s a great smoothie recipe to help cool you off in the summer heat.

Ingredients:

1 cup raspberries
2 cups watermelon (cut into chunks)
2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add the raspberries and watermelon.

Blend on high for 30 seconds.

Add the ice cream.

Blend on high until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Serve immediately.

Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Smoothie Recipe

Just because yesterday (July 17th) was National Ice Cream day doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ice cream today too, right? So, here’s another smoothie that calls for ice cream!

Ingredients:

6 large strawberries
1 banana
1 cup strawberry ice cream
1 slice pound cake
1 cup milk

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, blend the banana and pound cake with the milk until smooth.

Now add the strawberries and ice cream and blend until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Serve immediately.

National Ice Cream Day

Did you know there was even such a thing as National Ice Cream Day? There is! And it’s today – July 17th. So, in honor of it here’s a recipe that calls for ice cream. Of course it might be more fun to skip the smoothie and head out to your local ice cream parlor ;-)

Fruity Ice Cream Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 large banana
1/2 cup rasberries
1/2 cup blueberries
6 large strawberries
1 peach sliced and unseeded
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all the fruits, milk and ice cream and blend on high until smooth.

Serve immediately.

Note: You can substitute the vanilla ice cream for strawberry if you wish.

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Smoothie

This recipe makes 2 servings (serving size: about 1 cup)

Ingredients

1/2 cup 1% low-fat milk
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
1 frozen sliced ripe banana
1 (8-ounce) carton vanilla low-fat yogurt

Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender; process until smooth.

Chocolate and Yogurt Smoothie

Ingredients:

1/2 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup ice

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender and hit the liquify button. Liquify for 1-2 minutes and then serve immediately.

Sugared Strawberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup strawberries
3 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup ice

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all ingredients and blend on high for 2 minutes or until desired consistency is reached.

Berrylicious Smoothie

If you like fresh berries, milk and ice cream this one’s for you.

Ingredients:

4 ounces fresh strawberries
4 ounces fresh raspberries
4 ounces fresh blueberries
4 ounces fresh blackberries
3 scoops vanilla ice cream
3/4 cup milk

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, combine all ingredients.

Blend on high for one minute or until smooth.

Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Optional: Garnish with fresh berries.

Chocomint Smoothie

Here’s a yummy tasting smoothie but not one you want to indulge in on a regular basis! It makes a great dessert.

Ingredients:

2 cups milk, divided use
1/4 cup instant hot cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pint vanilla ice cream

Directions:

Heat 1/2 cup milk in microwave until heated, but not boiling.

Combine hot milk and cocoa mix in a Vita-Mix blender and process until smooth.

Add remaining milk and extracts and blend well.

Add ice cream and process until mixture is smooth.

Serve immediately.

Guilt Free Cookies and Cream Smoothie

Yesterday, I shared a Cookies and Cream smoothie recipe with you. It was full of fat and lots of calories (647 to be exact!). So today here’s a recipe that is just as good but on the healthier side.

Ingredients:

1 cup nonfat milk
1 cup fat-free frozen chocolate yogurt or 1 cup low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt
2 Oreo cookies (chocolate sandwich cookies, you could even use reduced-fat Oreos)

Directions:

1. Combine milk and frozen yogurt in blender until smooth.

2. Crumble in Oreos and blend.

Cookies and Cream Smoothie

This smoothie may not be the healthiest or offer much when it comes to nutrition, but it sure is delicious. Enjoy this recipe once in awhile as a treat.

Ingredients:

3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/3 cup crushed Oreo cookies
4 -6 ounces milk

Directions:

1. Combine ice cream, cookies and milk in a Vita-Mix blender.

2. Blend on medium speed for about 2 minutes or until well combined.
