Banana Yogurt Smoothie

Do you have picky kids that won’t eat yogurt? Here’s a great way to serve them yogurt without them even knowing!

Ingredients:

1 banana
1 cup strawberry-banana yogurt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup ice cubes

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high until smooth.

Pour into serving glasses.

Raspberry and Kiwi Smoothie

Ingredients:

1/2 cup low-fat milk
1 cup low-fat yogurt
1 cup raspberries
2 kiwis
1/2 cup ice cubes

Directions:

Peel and cut kiwis in half.

Add all ingredients to a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high until smooth.

Lemon Smoothie

Fruit & yogurt smoothies are a great way to get fruit and dairy. A lemon yogurt (as used in this recipe) is a great way to get a dose of calcium in your diet.

This recipe doesn’t list the amount of ingredients to use. It’s entirely up to you. Obviously for smaller serving sizes you would use less ingredients than if you were making enough for several kids.

Ingredients:

Frozen lemonade (any flavor)
Strawberries (or any fruit)
Lemon yogurt (flavored or plain)
Skim milk
Ice cubes

Directions:

Place all ingredients into Vita-Mix blender and blend on high until smooth.

Jello Smoothie

Here’s a great treat for your kids that you don’t have to feel guilty giving them. It’s on the healthy side but still yummy enough that kids won’t realize it’s ‘healthy’.

Ingredients:

Small package of Jell-o or gelatin, any flavor
1/2 cup milk
1 cup yogurt, any flavor
1/2 cup fruit or 1 fruit of choice
1/2 cup ice cubes

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a Vita-Mix blender and blend on high until smooth.

Orange Healthy Smoothie

Not only is this recipe one that will have your kids giving you praises because it’s so yummy but it’s also on the healthy side.

Ingredients:

1 orange peeled and separated
1 cup orange yogurt
3/4 cup peaches – sliced (if canned use juice also)
1/2 cup ice cubes

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high for 1-2 minutes or until smooth.

Note: If your kids (or you) don’t like peaches substitute them with different fruit such as a banana or a can of mandarin oranges.

Cinnamon Apple Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 small apple
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
handful of ice cubes

Directions:

Wash and peel apple. Cut up into cubes and take out the seeds.

Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender.

Blend on high for one minute or until smooth.

Banana Nut Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup milk
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 large banana
1/4 cup pistachio nuts or walnuts

Directions:

Add all ingredients to Vita-Mix blender and blend for one minute or until smooth.

Banana Boat Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 bananas
1/2 cup of orange juice
1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt
1 can of pineapple juice
2 pieces of ice

Directions:

Peel bananas and place in blender. Add orange juice. Add vanilla yogurt. Next add pineapple juice then add ice. Blend for 30 seconds. Enjoy a refreshing smoothie!

Peppermint And Chocolate Smoothie

Watching what you eat but have a chocolate craving? Give this recipe a try. It’s sure to cure your craving for chocolate as well as add a little ‘zest’ to the flavor with a hint of peppermint.

Ingredients:

6 cups chocolate milk
1/4 tsp peppermint extract
1 package (4-serving size) instant vanilla pudding mix (you may use chocolate if you wish)
Peppermint sticks

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender place half (3 cups) of the milk and the pudding mix.

Make sure lid is securely in place.

Blend on high until smooth.

Pour into a pitcher.

Add remainder of milk (3 cups) and peppermint extract. Stir until mixed together.

Place in refrigerator for 1 hour.

To Serve – stir mixture and pour into glasses and garnish with a peppermint stick.

Groovy Green Smoothie

When it comes to getting your kids to eat fruit it isn’t always an easy task. It might be a little easier to get them to drink their fruits so give this groovy green smoothie a shot!

Ingredients:

1 banana, cut in chunks
1 cup grapes
1 (6 ounce) tub vanilla yogurt
1/2 apple, cored and chopped
1 1/2 cups fresh spinach leaves

Directions:

Place the banana, grapes, yogurt, apple and spinach into a blender. Cover, and blend until smooth, stopping frequently to push down anything stuck to the sides. Pour into glasses and serve.
