Did you know there was even such a thing as National Ice Cream Day? There is! And it’s today – July 17th. So, in honor of it here’s a recipe that calls for ice cream. Of course it might be more fun to skip the smoothie and head out to your local ice cream parlor ;-)

Chocolate Pudding Smoothie

This was a bit on the chocolatey side. I would recommend using vanilla pudding instead to ‘tone’ the flavor down a bit.

Ingredients:

Several scoops chocolate protein powder (like Jillian Michael’s whey protein powder you can pick up at Wal-Mart)
2 cups water (use cold for best results)
2 tablespoons instant chocolate pudding mix
1/2 banana
ice cubes (as many as you need to make the consistency as thick as you like)

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all ingredients; replace cover and make sure securely in place.

Blend on high until smooth (adding ice as needed).

Serve immediately.

Banana Pudding Smoothie

If you like bananas you’ll love this recipe. If you don’t want it to be so full of banana flavor, substitute the banana pudding for vanilla pudding.

Ingredients:

2 bananas
1 small package banana flavored instant pudding
3 cups milk
1/2 cup banana nut cereal flakes

Directions:

In a Vita-Mix blender, add all ingredients; replace lid and make sure it’s securely in place.

Blend for 30 seconds or until smooth.

Serve immediately.
