Fig Banana Smoothie

This is another recipe that I haven't tried yet but thought I would pass along because it sounds interesting. Leave a comment if you've tried it (or try it) and tell me what you think.

2 bananas
16 oz. plain low-fat yogurt
24 oz. ice cubes
1 tablespoon honey

Place all ingredients in a Vita-Mix blender and blend on high until smooth (approximately 2 to 3 minutes).

If desired garnish with a fresh berry or mint leaf.

Mexican Smoothie

I have to be honest and say that this smoothie does not appeal to me at all. I can't imagine drinking these ingredients. I like them for cooking but for drinking? Not so sure about that. It sounded interesting so I thought I would share the recipe!

8oz. tomato juice
1/2 tsp chopped jalapeno
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 oz. chopped onion
4 oz. chopped parsley
2 garlic cloves, peeled

Place all ingredients (chopped) into your Vita-Mix blender and blend. Serve immediately.

Cucumber Mint Smoothie

I have to admit that I haven't tried this recipe yet. And honestly I can't imagine that cucumber and mint goes together at all. Well actually I don't see how any of these ingredients go together! It's certainly an interesting concoction. If you try this leave comments and let me know what you think.

1 cucumber peeled, seeded and chopped
3 tablespoons mint leaves & mint sprigs
12 oz. apple juice or still cider
    8 oz. lemon sorbet
    8 oz. ice cubes

Put the cucumber, mint, apple juice or cider, sorbet and ice in your Vita-Mix blender. Blend ingredients until smooth. Garnish with mint and serve.

Grape - Cherry Guzzler

16 oz. 100% grape juice from concord grapes
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
8 oz. frozen dark sweet pitted cherries
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    4 oz. plain nonfat yogurt

Place all ingredients into your Vita-Mix blender and blend until smooth. Pour over ice cubes.

Sweet Potato Smoothie

I haven't tried this smoothie before. It sounds rather interesting. Would love to hear your comments about it.

16 oz. sweet potatoes
1 + tablespoon brown rice syrup
1 tablespoon Sucanant
1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
1/2 tablespoon butterscotch flavoring
18 oz. water
2 ice cubes (optional)
2 tablespoon sesame tahini

Bake sweet potatoes until tender. Let cool (in refrigerator when not too warm). Peel skins from potatoes and slice into small chunks. Add sweet potatoes to blender along with water, tahini, sweeteners and flavorings. Begin blending. After several seconds of blending, stop the unit and mix the ingredients, if necessary, using a long utensil. Reblend to a creamy consistency. Serve warm or chilled.
