Apple Pie Smoothie

This is a great substitute for applesauce. You can control the consistency of it by adding more or less of the chopped apple. 

1 frozen banana
1/2 peeled apple
8oz. apple juice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch nutmeg

Add all ingredients to a Vita-Mix blender and blend.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie

Here's a recipe that your kids might enjoy. 

16 oz. milk
2 tbsp blackberry jelly
2 tbsp peanut butter
1 banana, frozen & chunked
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp wheat germ

Add milk, jelly, peanut butter, banana, honey and wheat germ to Vita-Mix blender. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.

Mexican Smoothie

I have to be honest and say that this smoothie does not appeal to me at all. I can't imagine drinking these ingredients. I like them for cooking but for drinking? Not so sure about that. It sounded interesting so I thought I would share the recipe! 

8oz. tomato juice
1/2 tsp chopped jalapeno
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 oz. chopped onion
4 oz. chopped parsley
2 garlic cloves, peeled

Place all ingredients (chopped) into your Vita-Mix blender and blend. Serve immediately.

Citrus Tea Smoothie

8 oz. Orange segments
4 oz. Grapefruit segments, chilled
4 oz. Strong-brewed Earl Grey tea, chilled
6 oz. Orange sherbet
2 Ice cubes

    Place the orange segments, grapefruit segments and Earl Grey tea into your Vita-Mix blender. Add the sherbet and ice. Blend until smooth. 

    Bewitching Smoothie Recipe

    Have a safe Halloween! This recipe is sure to be a hit! 

        2 cups apple cider
        2 cups vanilla ice cream2 tablespoons honey
        1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
        1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
        food coloring

    Combine all ingredients in blender; process until smooth. Add any color combination of food coloring depending on how gross or cute you want it to look! Orange, green, purple, etc.

    Pecan Pie Smoothie

        1 oz. hazelnut syrup
        1 oz. caramel syrup
        1 oz. Irish cream syrup
        4 oz. cold milk
        16 oz. ice

    Pour the hazelnut, caramel and Irish cream syrups into a Vita-Mix blender.  Add ice and blend until smooth.

    Pour into glass. Top with Whipped cream and sprinkle chopped pecans on top.

    Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

    This time of year always make me think about pumpkins so here is another pumpkin recipe. You'll need to plan a little ahead for when you want to serve this one. It requires that you freeze the pumpkin for one hour. 

        15 oz. solid pack pumpkin puree
        12 oz. frozen apple juice concentrate
        1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
        1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
        20 oz. water

    Remove pumpkin from can and freeze for 1 hour.

    Place partially frozen pumpkin, frozen apple juice concentrate, nutmeg and cinnamon in Vita-Mix blender. Blend until smooth.

     

    Purple Cow

    Here is a quick and easy recipe that your kids might like.

        6 oz. low-fat milk
        1 1/2 tablespoons frozen grape juice concentrate
        2 oz. vanilla yogurt

    Place ingredients in a container with an air tight lid that won't spill when you shake it. Shake until all ingredients are well blended.

    Pour into a tall glass.

    Sparkling Smoothie

    Once again I've found a recipe to share that I haven't tried but one that sounds interesting and I'm curious to know your comments once you try it.  

        8 oz. yogurt; plain or fruit-flavored
        16 oz. chopped fresh fruit
        pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
        5 oz. ice-cold sparkling water or ginger ale

    This recipe makes 2 servings.

    Place the yogurt, fruit and nutmeg in a Vita-Mix blender.  Blend until smooth.

    Pout into glasses, filling only 3/4 of the way full.  Add sparkling water or ginger ale to top it off and stir gently to combine.  

    Optional: Garnish with mint sprigs or fruit slices.

    Sugar-Free Strawberry Smoothie

        8 oz. carton plain nonfat yogurt  
        2 oz. skim milk
        3 packets sweetener
        24 oz. frozen strawberries
        8 oz. ice cubes

    This recipe makes 4-6oz servings

    In a Vita-Mix blender combine yogurt, milk, and sweetener. With the Vita-Mix blender running, add berries a few at a time through opening in lid. Blend until smooth.

    Add ice cubes one at a time through opening in lid, blending until slushy.

    Pour into glasses.
